Renée de Laat moves where stories live. As a Rotterdam-based photographer, she doesn’t chase perfect images, she captures real connection. Her work spans cultural organizations, restaurants and creative brands, but is always guided by the same question: what brings people together? More often than not, she finds the answer around the table, where food becomes more than a meal and stories are passed down from one generation to the next. In Koken met Status (2025), she brings together twelve chefs with a migration background, sharing not just their recipes, but their personal stories. Through her work, Renée invites people to be curious, to connect and to look beyond general assumptions to discover the human story underneath.
